Herceg Novi
Travel time from Tivat: about 1 hour. Recommended package: 6 hours.
Herceg Novi stands at the entrance to the bay on a steep hillside. The town rises from the water in a succession of stairways, making it more demanding to explore on foot than it appears from the boat.
Centuries of History in One Town
Over five hundred years, it has been ruled by Bosnia, the Ottoman Empire, Spain, Venice, Russia, France and Austria. Each left behind fortifications, so several stand within a relatively small area.
What to See
- Forte Mare beside the water;
- the Ottoman Kanli Kula tower, now used as a summer performance venue;
- the Clock Tower and Belavista Square;
- the several-kilometre-long Pet Danica promenade.
We moor in the town marina and allow time for a walk. The route covers the entire bay in both directions, making it a sightseeing cruise as well.
